Data Availability and Research Transparency Policy

The journal “Chemistry, Physics and Technology of Surface” is committed to promoting transparency, reproducibility and integrity in scientific research. The journal encourages authors to provide primary research data in accordance with the FAIR Data Principles (https://www.go-fair.org/fair-principles/ ) whenever possible.

The journal follows internationally recognized standards for research data management and transparency.

 

Principle of Data Availability

Authors are encouraged to ensure that the data supporting the findings of their research are:

  • available to readers upon reasonable request;
  • deposited in a recognized public repository; or
  • included as supplementary materials accompanying the article.

Data availability must be clearly indicated in the manuscript.

 

Data Availability Statement

All submitted manuscripts must include a Data Accessibility Statement (in the rights transfer agreement) indicating whether and how the data can be accessed.

Examples include:

  • “The data supporting the findings of this study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request.”
  • “All data generated or analyzed during this study are included in this published article and its supplementary information files.”
  • “The data are publicly available in [repository name] under accession number [XXXX].”

 

Recommended Repositories

Authors are encouraged to deposit research data in recognized repositories appropriate to their discipline, including:

  • institutional repositories;
  • subject-specific repositories;
  • general-purpose repositories such as Zenodo, Figshare, or Dryad, DataverseUA

The journal does not mandate a specific repository but strongly encourages long-term preservation and accessibility.

 

Exceptions and Restrictions

Data may not be publicly shared when:

  • legal or ethical restrictions apply;
  • confidentiality agreements prohibit disclosure;
  • data contain sensitive or personal information;
  • intellectual property protection is required.

In such cases, authors must clearly explain the restrictions in the Data Availability Statement.

 

Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are responsible for:

  • ensuring the accuracy and integrity of shared data;
  • providing sufficient information to allow verification or replication of results where possible;
  • retaining original research data in accordance with institutional or funding requirements.

 

Editorial Considerations

The Editorial Board may:

  • request access to raw data during the peer-review process;
  • evaluate the adequacy of data transparency statements;

reject manuscripts that fail to meet basic transparency standards without valid justification.

The FAIR Principles promote the use of data that is:

  • searchable;
  • accessible for scholarly access;
  • interoperable;
  • reusable.

 

Policy Updates

The Editorial Board reserves the right to update this policy in accordance with international standards of research data management and best practices in scientific publishing.
