The area of scientific research is the study of the kinetics and mechanism of combustion of hydrocarbons and the structure of cold and sooty flames, the synthesis and study of nanocarbon materials for various functional purposes. He was the first to discover hydrogen atoms in cold hydrocarbon flames and established oscillatory regimes of temperature and concentration of radicals in cold flames of butane and hexane; a phenomenological model for explaining the oscillatory regime during oxidation is proposed.
More than 50 doctors, candidates and PhDs defended dissertations under scientific supervision. Author of more than 1000 scientific articles and abstracts, 40 manuals and monographs, more than 90 copyright certificates and patents of the USSR and the Republic of Kazakhstan, including nanomaterials.
