Effect of porous structure of silica carriers and diclofenac state on kinetics of active substance release

Abstract

The composites based on diclofenac and silicas with various porosity and particle size have been obtained. The dissolution rate of the crystalline form of diclofenac and its release rate from the silica carriers have been investigated. When impregnating diclofenac into porous silica matrices, the structure of active compound has been found to transform into amorphous state what provides an increase of its dissolution rate. The diclofenac release rate depends on the porous structure of carriers and decreases with pore diameter decreasing.
