Abstract

The transformation of water-glycerol and ethanol-glycerol mixtures into propylene glycol using two reactors operating at different temperatures was studied. It is found that Cu/Al2O3 and Cu/Al2O3-Cr2O3 catalysts provide 100% conversion of glycerol. It is shown that utilization of ethanol-glycerol mixture allows increasing the yield of propylene glycol and extending the time of stable work of the catalyst.
